Title: Master's Message for March 2010
Date: 2/23/2010

Brethren:
It was good to see a number of our Brethren -Eric Ruhman, Ugo Mamolo, and Norm Woods who came to our “Coming Home” event in February. This “Coming Home” was a night observed throughout the state as one of the programs our Grand Master is promoting to encourage attendance at all members’ Blue Lodges. It was a good evening for all who attended, and we hope to see many more of our Brethren “Coming Home” in the future. We are hoping that “Coming Home” won’t end with our February observation.
My appreciation in particular to Brother George George for helping with the phone calls to our members encouraging them to attend. Also, my thanks to Worshipful Eric Hatfield who helped out by setting up the showing of the videos a) Operation Greatest Gift, featuring the Grand Master’s Project to send our Brethren who are WW II veterans to Washington D.C. to view the WW II Memorial and b) our 50 -Year Anniversary video featuring several founding members.
Also in February, in collaboration with Santa Monica-Palisades Lodge #307, we celebrated our Annual Sweethearts’ Dinner at the Santa Monica Temple. We honored the widows of both Lodges including four of our Riviera Lodge widows, Alice Karl, Phylliss Braveman, Marie Jett and Virginia Redel. All enjoyed the dinner, music and flowers, an occasion the widows richly deserved.
Riviera Lodge will host the Officers’ School of Instruction on February 25th for the 701st Masonic District. The evening features the First Degree and Lecture.
This month’s Stated Meeting Dinner will feature a presentation from an E.F. Homestay Foundation representative. And, I’m happy to announce, the 2nd Degree Proficiency at the Meeting for Paul Nahigian who will be doing his 3rd Degree on March 25th. We hope that we will have the support of many Brothers as Paul becomes a Master Mason .
As a member of the Grand Lodge Membership Committee, I feel strongly that we need to implement the Grand Lodge’s candidate information programs - Pass It On and On the Level. In that regard, I would like to propose that we consider hosting a Layman’s Night sometime in the future. We can focus on the Palisades community to increase our presence in the community and provide people with a chance not only to know more about who we are as Masons but also to help our Lodge to grow. I look forward to any of your suggestions as to how we might go about setting this up sometime in the near future.
Fraternally,

Frederick J. Votto, PM
